what's not to love about this time of year?
A smattering of long weekends, glorious weather, kids now back at school, cicadas in full song and by massive good luck, we're still living our best Covid-free life.  I hope you all had a restful break and that you enjoyed a lovely Christmas.

Our little store was never so busy as it was the last week before Christmas, and for all those wonderful customers who chose to shop local last year, we are grateful to you all.  Thank you for believing in what we do, and for ensuring that we are back this year, doing what we love.

If you're heading out of town to enjoy Waitangi this weekend, read on for our road trip faves x

Start with a great bag - the Olive canvas weekender from Citta is a favourite of ours, and comes in light grey and black.  Solid handles and a detachable padded shoulder strap make great finishing touches.  Our new Rains tote bag can hold a deceptive amount (also available in black), is entirely waterproof and has generous handles that easily slide over shoulders.
Keep hydrated in a hot car with a fab Squire Me glass drink bottle.  The leather lanyard on the lid make it easy to hang on to, while the non-slip silicone sleeve gives great grip - not to mention that with a glass vessel, your water doesn't pick up any nasties.  And, they fit into your car's cup holder.  Love.
It turns out I had quite a few of these amazing Dock & Bay beach towels on back order, so you can imagine my surprise when they turned up along with the solid order I did in January.  No matter, I think this glorious weather will be sticking around for a while yet, so there will be plenty for everyone!  These towels are the best - they come in two generous sizes, are compact, quick drying, have a handy carry pouch and best of all, they don't retain sand.
Take your camping to next level glamping.  Packed with inspiration plus a whole load of how to's and you've got yourself a bible for the modern day summer holiday.  Need to judge a river's difficulty?  No problem.  Taking your dog?  Read on.
Another shipment of these massively popular foldable tumblers are on their way with a great range of new colours, and some favourite pairings returning.  They make such a great vessel around the pool, on the boat or when picnicking.  Keep an eye out on our Instagram to see when they land!
I didn't manage to do much reading over the break but I did complete The Heart's Invisible Furies by John Boyn.  I had started this some months ago but life took over and my reading time went out the window.  I loved it.  Beautifully written, poignant story and great characters.

We have just finished watching Bridgerton on Netflix.  OMG.  What a magnficent spectacle - fantastic characters, gorgeous leads and a great story to keep you coming back for more.  Can't wait for Season Two!

My daughter and I made the latest Tik Tok food craze last night - we roasted a block of feta cheese and tomatoes with a drizzle of olive oil and grind of salt and pepper in the oven at 180 for 20 minutes while we boiled some fettuccine.  Smash up the tomatoes and feta, drain the pasta (keep some of the water), then add the pasta to the tomato & feta mix.  We added some chorizo and basil and it was divine - super easy, really tasty and it kept well for lunch today.
Finally, we're searching for a few new people to join our team - a regular Tuesday person, a regular Sunday student and a graphics whizz to keep everything looking pretty.  All the details are on the website.  If you know of anyone, please send them our way.

Have a great Waitangi weekend everyone, and take care if you're travelling.  It's great to be back, Jude x
